What is the raw material for PP woven bags

The main raw material for PP woven bags is polypropylene (PP), a high-molecular polymer made from propylene monomers through polymerization. Due to its high cost-effectiveness, good mechanical properties, and ease of processing, it has become the preferred material for woven bag production. Polypropylene raw materials usually exist in granular form and can be divided into homopolymer polypropylene and copolymer polypropylene according to different production processes. Homopolymer polypropylene is more commonly used in woven bag manufacturing due to its higher rigidity and tensile strength. In the production process, polypropylene granules are first heated and melted in an extruder, then extruded into a film through a die. This film is then cut and stretched to form flat filaments (or fibers). These filaments are subsequently woven into tubular or sheet-like base fabrics, and then sewn or bonded to form the final woven bag. The advantages of PP woven bags include light weight, acid and alkali resistance, moisture and mildew resistance, and high tensile strength. These properties make them widely used in the packaging and transportation of bulk materials such as grains, fertilizers, chemical products, and building materials. Furthermore, as a thermoplastic, polypropylene has a certain degree of recyclability and can be recycled through melt-re-granulation processes, meeting environmental protection requirements. However, PP woven bags are prone to aging and cracking under prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light. Therefore, some outdoor bags have added UV stabilizers to extend their lifespan. With technological advancements, improved polypropylene materials such as modified PP or filler masterbatches are also used to enhance specific properties of woven bags, such as improving weather resistance or hand feel.
